A lot of traditional oral narratives emanated from communities’ observations of their environment. In turn, these were passed down through generations, adapting to and adopting the knowledge of the time. They still make interesting and substantially logical reading.
The accounts in the stories in this book are about natural phenomena. An example is why the sun and the moon never meet! In a way, though fictional, they ‘validate’ observed natural phenomena!
The stories are situated in a time long gone where events in each of the stories build up logically to answer questions such as ‘why?’ and ‘how?’ in oral narratives. The language is simple and engaging to the reader.
