Description

This book highlights the scope of examination coverage in KCSE English Paper One (101/1). Key elements to master are examined under each of the topics covered. Functional writing topics have been examined with guidelines of how to write each one of them. How to prepare and answer cloze test questions makes it easier for the learner to understand this area which, learners sometimes deem difficult. Listening and speaking skills, oral literature and oral poetry are also well covered in this paper. Examples from real life situations are given for the benefit of the learner.
Each of the areas covered in this paper can be tricky when it comes to examination or testing. These aspects are covered within the individual topics under the sub title: Tricky Aspects.

It also provides for how to understand the different types of questions and how to answer them. Structured questions at the end of every topic and Sample Model Papers have also been provided (with answers) for sufficient revision.
An in-depth analysis of the common mistakes learners make in different areas of this Paper make it easy for the learners to identify what they are doing wrong and how they can surpass those mistakes.
Past KCSE analysis provided in this book shows the patterns in examination setting. This is meant to guide the learner and the teacher on the areas they should put more emphasis on. Note that the analysis is from past examinations and may or may not predict future examination patterns.
